Featured Day Trip: Edinburgh Zoo, November 5th

17th October 2016

Edinburgh Zoo is home to more than 1000 rare and endangered animals across 82 acres of sloping parkland, making it the perfect day out for families and adults alike.

On November 5th we can take you and your group, young or not-so-young, with us to see the delightful animals of Edinburgh Zoo, including penguins, koala bears, wallabies and our world-famous giant panda exhibit!

The zoo has lots to offer including the Edinburgh Zoo Gardens, a restaurant and umpteen animals, as well as fascinating daily talks.

The talks programme includes: Meet the Reptiles, Brilliant Birds, Chimpanzee Talk and a chance to meet Bertus, the Greater one-horned Rhino!

Edinburgh Zoo was built in 1913 and is currently home to 171 species of animal, it’s the only zoo in the whole of Britain to be home to giant pandas and koala bears, it was also the world’s first zoo to house and breed penguins!

The zoo’s gardens include some of the most diverse tree collections in the Lothians and the zoo has been granted four stars by the Scottish Tourism Board.

To this day, the zoo remains the only one in the UK with a Royal Charter, which came about following a visit by His Majesty King George VI in 1948.

There are continual development plans for the zoo, with Red Pandas soon to be added to the zoo’s extensive collection as well as a Sumatran tiger enclosure.

Find out about the zoo, its animals and attractions by visiting the official website.
