Featured Day Trip: York’s 30th Annual Jorvik Viking Festival on February 21, 2015

16th February 2015

Our first day trip of 2015 is fast approaching! Vikings from all over the world visit York for this annual festival, which celebrates 30 years in February 2015…

Stanley Travel will take you on a trip you won’t forget, celebrating and remembering the Viking era in none other than historic York.

From 14-25 February, York is transformed into a spectacular scene of Vikings wandering the streets, guided walks, family friendly events, lectures and even battle re-enactments.

On February 21st we will transport you to York – we hope to see your battle shield – and bring you back home from a day of activities planned by the official Jorvik Viking Festival. This year’s itinerary includes:

  • 10th Century Traders at Merchant Adventurers
  • Central Camp
  • 10th Century Traders in St Sampson’s Square
  • Brawl at the Guildhall: The Strongest Viking Competition
  • Have-a-Go Sword Combat
  • March to Coppergate
  • Best Beard Contest (A personal favourite of many, we’re sure)
  • A Brave New Viking World: Spectacular Finale

As the largest Viking Festival in Europe, the Annual Jorvik Festival is a citywide celebration of York’s well-known Viking heritage and welcomes over 40,000 visitors each year.
