Tall Ships Regatta, Blyth
Celebrate the 60 anniversary of the Tall Ships Races with Stanley Travel – it’s the perfect family day out!
We’re visiting Blyth on Friday 26th August and we wanted to provide you with some information about this exciting event.
From August 26th – 29th the Tall Ships will be docked at Blyth Quayside, Northumberland, with up to 30 of the largest and most spectacular ships in the world making an appearance.
As well as getting to view these stunning creations, you will be able to enjoy music, parades, street entertainment, food and drink, as well as a race from the Northumberland coast to Gothenburg, Sweden on Monday 29th August.
Some of the wonderful vessels are from as far away as Norway, Belgium, Poland and the Netherlands.
The first Tall Ships Race took place in 1956 between Torquay and Lisbon as a one-off farewell to an era of fantastic sailing ships, but the public interest that was aroused let to it becoming a regular event.
Find out about the big day, the ships involved and the history of the event by visiting the official website.
