Why It’s Important To Remember – Pickering’s Wartime & 1940s Weekend
Following last year’s day trip to Pickering’s Wartime & 1940s Weekend, we have added it to this year’s calendar!
Travel back in time to the vintage 1940s or discover for the first time how life was in the wartime years at the fantastic event, taking place on Pickering Showground.
The weekend – Friday 16th October until Sunday 18th October 2015 – includes 1940’s singers & dancers, vintage hair & beauty parlour, best dressed competition, afternoon tea dance, military & vintage trade stands, WWII re-enactment battles, living history displays and evening ‘big band’ dances! As well as all of those incredible activities, there will also be authentic steam trains on the fantastic North York Moors Railway, departing regularly for Levisham – or ‘Le Visham’ – where there will be a recreation of a French village occupied by German troops! [Source]
Pickering will play host to a parade of 1940s military and civilian vehicles as well as British soldiers, American GIs and a whole host of civilian characters too! [Source]
