Keswick and Bowness on Windermere
Saturday 1st August - Route AWe travel to the pretty market town of Keswick in the Lake District’s National Park, which has a wide range of attractions for visitors from shops, restaurants, museums to boating trips around Derwent Water. We then continue onto Bowness on Windermere, a town in South Lakes which has become a tourist honeypot due to its position on the banks of Bowness.
Lightwater Valley Theme Park – Ripon
Wednesday 5th August - Route CWe head for Ripon today to the Home of the ‘ultimate adventure’ – Lightwater Valley is full of family fun and fairground rides including The Ultimate rollercoaster, and lots more rides for all ages. It’s a great day out for all the family to enjoy! Admission is included in the price of each ticket.
Chatsworth House & Gardens
Saturday 8th August - Route EChatsworth House in Derbyshire, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire has been passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family. Chatsworth is renowned for its art, landscape and its hospitality. It has evolved through the century’s to reflect the tastes, passions and interests of the succeeding generations. The house has 30 rooms in which you can explore from the magnificent painted hall, the regal staterooms and the restored galleries. The beautiful sculptured gardens are famous for its history and modern waterworks, its Victorian rock garden and maze. After we have visited the house & gardens we board the coach for a short ride to the main estate Farm Shop in Pilsley, where you can grab a coffee and bite to eat and maybe purchase a few gifts.
Forbidden Corner & Leyburn
Wednesday 12th August - Route C“Ideal for the young at heart” Originally built as a private folly but because of local demand was turned into the Forbidden Corner. This popular family attraction is a labyrinth of tunnels and chambers and follies and surprises, whatever your age you’re sure to enjoy the temple of the underworld, the eye of a needle, a huge pyramid made of translucent glass, paths and passages which lead to nowhere, and statues at every turn. After our visit, we then continue onto Leyburn where there will be some free time. Admission is included in the price of each ticket.
Holy Island, Bamburgh & Seahouses
Saturday 22nd August - Route BOur first stop for this trip is at the tidal island of Lindisfarne which carries a wealth of history within its tidal walls. This peaceful setting, once the home of the Vikings and the ancient monks, is the birthplace of the Lindisfarne Gospels, one of the most precious books in the world. We continue our journey to the beautiful Northumberland Village of Bamburgh, home of the Grace Darling RNLI Museum and Bamburgh Castle. After a short stay, we continue to Seahouses, a fishing town where you can browse the shops or perhaps treat yourself to fish and chips before our journey home.
South Lakes Safari Zoo
Wednesday 26th August - Route AThis safari zoo is set in 54 acres in Ullswater, Cumbria and is home to over 1000 of the rarest and most endangered animals in unique natural environments, enabling you to get as close as physically possible to experience the amazing creatures. Some of the animals you will see are lions, tigers, big cats, primates, giraffes, bears, rhinos, zebras, kangaroos, reptiles, penguins, vultures and many more when you visit this popular safari zoo. Admission is included in the price of each ticket.
Haverthwaite Steam Train & Boat
Saturday 29th August - Route AWe travel to Haverthwaite in Ulverstone where we board the steam train for Lakeside, the most southern tip of Lake Windermere. We continue our journey by lake on board a Windermere Pleasure Boat to Bowness, where your coach will be waiting for you. There will be free time in Bowness, before our journey home. Admission is included in the price of each ticket.
Monday 31st August (Bank Holiday Monday) - Route AWe will visit the popular Yorkshire seaside resort of Scarborough with its 2 bays and sandy beaches which are split by the headland bearing the 12th century Scarborough Castle. There are lots of things to do for all the family in this well-liked resort. You can visit Peasholm Park, the Spa, the Castle, amusements, ice cream parlours, restaurants, the working harbour, or simply take a deck chair and relax on a sandy beach.
